Sri Rudra Homam is a sacred Vedic ritual performed to invoke the blessings of Lord Rudra, a form of Lord Shiva, for health, wealth, prosperity, and overall well-being. It is considered one of the most powerful homams in Hindu tradition and is performed with utmost devotion and sincerity.
The ritual involves the chanting of the ancient Vedic hymn known as the Mahanyasam, Rudram, which is a part of the Yajurveda. The Rudram comprises two sections called Namaka & Chamaka. Each of this has eleven anuvakas (paragraph). The role of the Homam is to chant full Namakam once and followed by chanting of one chamakam like this 11 times of Namakam followed by each paragraph of chamakam will be chanted.
In this process of eleven rounds, eleven types of abisheka will be performed to Lord Shiva. Then one round of Sri Rudra Homam will be performed.
